    ONE WORD: DELICIOUS!!! This is a San Marcos hidden gem. Everything we ate was tasty and authentic. It is a must try!!!

    This place is usually A-Ok to fandom for me, and today was perfect.

    Asked if there was any caldo left, meaning the advertised $5.99 special: cup of caldo + barbacoa taco. Ended up with a proper bowl, not the teeny cup, and no taco plus a lemonade for under $9 after tax. I will say it's the first time I've gotten a single tortilla in a tortilla warmer, and I regret NOTHING. It helped me clean up the last of the bowl quite nicely.

    Lovely clear flavorful broth, spoon-carvable big chunks of squash, carrot, potato, beef plus a beautiful garnish ring of sweet corn in that caldo served sun-hot on a rare near-freezing day. I drank broth until there was some room in the bowl, then stirred in my side bowl of rice and squeezed in the lemon.

    Perfect.

    Good, unobtrusive service from one lady tending near a dozen tables today. I still recommend stopping here when parking is available in this limited corner lot.

    Great breakfast.  We had the miga tacos. The beef cheek and the lengua tacos fantastic.  Great enchiladas. You will not be disappointed.  We will be back.

    It wasn't what I thought. Hoping for brisket nachos in a big pile. 5 little pieces of flour tortilla back in oven with grisly beef and some cheese

    I've lived in San Marcos for two years now and I can finally say that I have found a Mexican restaurant with the same authenticity as back home. Chepo's is wonderfully inexpensive, the food is fantastic, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back!
